Fast. Secure. Efficient. Linux is used everywhere - from cell phones and DVRs to mainframe computers and submarines! Buy something online -- you probably accessed a computer running Linux. Browsers, Apps, even the SBAC test are available for this OS. It’s great for computers in your school, be they older or newer, servers, desktops, notebooks, or netbooks. And it’s free. Struggling with how to afford an upgrade from WindowsXP? Visit this session to learn about the Linux option!

Ubermix is a version of Linux designed for schools. Download and install it in minutes. Use it just as it is or make lots of modifications if you want to. Give users control. If a user “messes it up” just reset to “factory condition” in about 2 minutes -- security isn’t much of an issue.

Come to this session if you’d like to know a bit more about the OpenSource movement, Linux, what a great solution Ubermix is, and to gain some tips for its use.
